Listening to my body & researching.

After enjoying my first cacao elixir (or 5 or 6) last week thanks to the lovely Gavin from Ceremonial Grade Cacao as well as munching some delicious cacao bliss balls & demolishing a raw vanoffee cacao bar, I broke out in this awful rash on my hands that I haven’t had for YEARS!!

I knew straight away that it was my nickel allergy flaring up because Nickel is the only thing that causes this reaction. After something a specialist said whilst at an appointment with Sam, I decided to check out what foods are bad for someone with a nickel allergy. Guess what was top of the list!! Chocolate. And cacao is chocolate in its purest form. So at least straight away I knew what that cause was (great news cuz I spent a year with this rash not having a clue) but over the next few days it got worse, it got sore and it spread to my elbows, knees and feet! I’d had enough when I was woken for the second night in a row from my hands literally throbbing.

I’ve been signed up as a dOTERRA “family and friends” doctor for a year now, but I’ve never really used them for their full potential.. Until now! I looked up what was good for allergies and I was told to use a combo of lavender, peppermint and lemon oils. So that’s what I did! Within minutes of applying this trio my hands were instantly soothed & after 3 applications my toad hands had come right down to what is the bottom right picture.

After a chat with Steph from Life Alchemy Therapies, she discovered that vitamin C slows down the absorption of cacao in the body. So to try and help my little gut out, I’ve given it a boost with 5000mg of Ascorbic Acid (pure vit c) today. I know first hand if I had of gone to my GP that they would have just tried to pie me off with a steroid cream for my skin to get addicted to! So thank you nature for sorting me out & I’m so glad I am able to actually listen to my body so much better now and notice what it needs. Thanks for bringing that back out in me Steph.
